We give our children two things:

Roots to Grow, and Wings to Fly.

Roots and Wings was established in 2021 with Amber’s vision of building a practice rooted in inclusivity, equity, empathy, diversity, integrity, transparency, social justice, and empowerment. Since our inception, we remain steadfast in our commitment to these values. Over the last 3 years, we’ve been honored to welcome over 1,200 clients seeking support and guidance through our doors.

What began as a modest endeavor with two clinicians and administrative support, blossomed into a thriving community of 15 dedicated clinicians and 5 administrative staff members. The growth of our practice reflects our dedication to meeting the diverse needs of our clients and the community we serve, as we continue to evolve to meet those needs. We are proud to have opened our practice to internship opportunities, providing aspiring mental health professionals with hands-on experience and mentorship and nurturing the next generation of compassionate and skilled clinicians.

As we continue to evolve and expand, our core values remain at the heart of everything we do. We are deeply grateful for the trust our clients have placed in us and look forward to serving our community with the same passion and commitment that has defined Roots and Wings Connections since its establishment.

We are thrilled to be a part of your Wellness Journey. Please take a look around and reach out to contact us. We would be happy to assist in the beginning or transition of your journey.

Amber Jones, Director of Counseling, CEO

Amber Jones is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Virginia and holds certification from the National Board for Certified Counselors as a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Amber is also a certified clinical supervisor.
Amber is the founder and owner of Roots and Wings. She started the practice with two dreams in mind. One, to provide inclusive and equitable service to everyone in the community of the Hampton Roads, and two, to provide an environment for counselors that prevents burnout and compassion fatigue. Her goal is to provide a place of safety, empathy, and transparency for both our clients and our staff.
Her theoretical foundation is based on Family Systems and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with the belief that all members in a family are connected and what affects one member affects all members, creating patterns of dysfunction that must be acknowledged, processed, and broken. She holds the belief that all experiences throughout the lifespan influence our thoughts, behaviors and actions as they relate to the world and people around us – beginning with the most foundational experiences we learn about relationships within our family of origin.
